The Holidays are here and the time for crazy sales, frantic shopping and trying to find that perfect gift to give the girl you love comes with it! :P Finding that gift can be some what of a challenge, I know believe me been there and done that. So here is your Holiday Gift Guide to Your Gamer Girls Heart!

Those on a Budget!

We all know that things can get really tight around the holidays, but you still want to be able to get something that the one you love will really enjoy and appreciate. Gift Cards are the common fall back, but they lack that zing! that WOW factor! Well there are some awesome gifts for those who still want to put a smile on her face but are on a budget. There are always some awesome Indie games on XBox Live, WiiWare and Playstation Network. For XBox Live might I recommend Arkedo Series - 03 PIXEL! for 240points?? This old school, 2D, side scrolling platformer makes me smile! The blue and white color are a nice soothing feel so it is a nice game to play at the end of the day to wind down along with the little cat being oh so very cute! Now for PSN I would recommend the game Flower, well not exactly an Indie game it still is a really amazing game for the low price of $9.99! thatgamecompany fully took advantage of the motion sensor in the PS3's wireless remote and ran with it! Which after playing for the first time I fell head over heels in love with :D

Then of course we have the two biggest games of the year! First off we have Plants vs Zombies! This adorable and addicting game allows you to plant flowers (progressively better ones) to combat waves of cute zombies coming up the lawn to eat your brains! The colorful cuteness of this game is enough to make even the most seasoned FPS girl squee in joy! Not to mention the theme song! So freaking cute! This is available for download on Steam for your Mac or PC, on iTunes for your iPhone, iTouch or iPad, and even for download for those of you with XBoxLive! Second I have for you the Number 1 top paid app on iTunes in the whole world, Angry Birds! This game is so addicting and fun to play, and you really come to hate that stupid little grin that the pigs get on their face when one is left alive ..... -_- ..... I really hate those pigs. Check out the intro to the game in the animation below, and see the back story on why the birds hate the pigs so.

If you play World of Warcraft together you can always get her something in game! You could always go the route of getting her some sweet Bind on Use gear from the new expansion, most everyone is rushing to get to 85 and will be needing the gear once there. Though those will vary depending on what class and spec she runs. If you don't mind a little bit of mad grinding (or dropping some serious gold in the action house) might I recommend the Parrot Cage (Hyacinth Macaw)?? This is a companion that any girl would be happy to add to her collection and show off to the world! Now if you want something from the new expansion and you just so happen to be a miner then I would say pick up your ax empty your bags and head out to Twilight Highlands, Deepholm or Uldum and looking for Elementium and Rich Elementium Veins, you have a chance to find the Elementium Geode well mining these! This tiny little creature will be the sparkle in any girls eye for the holiday season! If you still are not happy with either of those and want something cheep but don't have to work to hard for it, you might want to try the Blizzard Store. They have two new companions up for sale the Moonkin Hatchling and Lil' Ragnaros both are just ten dollars flat and will put a nice smile on her face! And on a plus side if you want to do a good dead at the same time then go for the Moonkin Hatchling, Blizzard will donate 50% of each one purchased to the Make A Wish Foundation now through December 31st!

Tech Girls!

For my Techy girls out there, I have some nice Pink options! I recommend the Candy Pink PS3 Controller, for the Playstation girls out there. Any PS3 gamer should be proud to hold this controller in his or her hands, the epicness of it is to never be matched! :P There is of course the XBox360 version of this with the Baby Pink Controller.


There is of course the lovely SOYNTEC Netsound 500 Headphones and Microphone. It is totally adjustable to fit your head and the sound is stereo which makes those late nights playing World of Warcraft and hearing all those lovely insults in vent in all clarity. For our Classic gamer girls we have the wonderful and adorable Shine Sprite from SuperMarioSunshine! EPIC GAME RELEASES!!! Part III :P

Hey All!

That's right Zephy is back! Sorry about the long absences, life got a little carried away there with me for a while. I promise that from now on even if I am uber busy, I will post something amazing here at least once a week (if I have to give up gaming time to do so then so be it!) So be sure to check in with me every week!

Alright let's get this ball rolling enough with the mushy stuff :P I know that I missed a few really epic game releases, so I have been debating as to how to continue/end this series of posts. I didn't want to just stop and act like missing some of the greatest game releases of the year was okay so I figured that I would take this time to go over a few of the note worthy releases and make this an on going series of posts every month or so!

Call of Duty: Black Ops
Systems: PS3, Xbox360, PC

Alright so my original plan was to dedicate a full posting to this EPIC game release but plans change :P I am instead going to tell you that this game is so worth the 60 plus bucks you are going to spend on it! I have to say that Treyarch did an amazing job making this game into one of the best in the series, they took an already awesome title and made it even better. Now for those of you who played MW2 there is some slight differences in this game; it plays more life like, what with the delay on the time of explosion on frags, the time it takes to drop your gun, knife someone, and pick your gun back up, and even the time it takes to burn to death from the napalm drop! :P Yes Zephy gets very excited when it comes to killing people. I haven't gotten to play as much as I would like but I have to say that Treyarch did a killer job on the map layouts and the weapons systems. I even love the fact that you can buy what you want when it unlocks! In fact the only two complaints I have are of course the ever present one on my part: Activision and their hate of gamers, the way they run their servers pisses me off. Along with the fact that they keep insisting on not putting their commercials on girl networks, though I will give them mad props for their "There is a Soldier in all of us" commercial :) They just need to remember that the keep missing out on half of the population (more then half actually) by not advertising to girls. I can't wait tell the day that I open up a fashion magazine and see gamer fashion in there with video game advertisement :P And the other complaint I have is that I miss my emblems and call signs. I like the make your own emblem but I miss being able to earn epic ones! :P That's just the "half to be the best" side of me coming out! Now I will say this Black Ops does have a rating of M for Blood, Gore, Intense Violence, and Strong Language, that means parents out there you have to decided if you want your young ones playing this. If you want my opinion I I would say that anyone under the age of 16 should not play mainly because of the fact that there are some pretty intense imagery (like blood splattering across the screen) that might be to much. So the answer to the all important question: YES! Black Ops is a great investment for any gamer out there! Be you a causal or a hardcore player!

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Systems: PS3, Xbox360, PC

In the sequel to Assassin's Creed II you play as the Master Assassin Ezio as he journeys to Italy and the once great city of Rome to continue in his on growing struggle against the Templar Order! We have seen the story. We have watched it grow. And we have fallen in love with Assassin's Creed, and Brotherhood is a wonderful addition to this series of amazing games! We are again joined from some of Histories most famous people, Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolo Machiavelli, and even Caterina Sforza, I don't know about the rest of you but the history nerd in me is in love with the fact that we get to see these people in such an awesome setting! You get to lead Ezio through the single player mode where for the first time you are introduced to the new line of Assassins, each under his command and coming together to defeat the Templars. In addition to the famous story line we also get to see the first ever Assassin's Creed Multiplayer! Choose from any of the unique characters offered, each with his or her own signature weapon and techniques! Yes Ladies there are even some neck slicing, kidney stabbing, girls for us to play as, the Courtesan, the Hellequin and even the Smuggler! Now the ESRB rating on this is M for Blood, Intense Violence, Sexual Content, and Strong Language. For young children this is not a good game. Though for everyone else I have to say this is a MUST BUY! This game is pretty epic, even if you are not going to play online the story itself is a great tale to play through, and well worth the money.

Sonic Colors
Systems: Wii, DS

I covered games for the adults, now lets cover something for the children! My nephew absolutely loves Sonic, so of course this was a must have, and I have to say that the this new adventure in the Sonic universe can hold it's own among the classic games! The Wii version offers a 2-player co-op which allows for you to combine Color Power to have twice the fun. Where as the DS version allows for you to go head to head with two on two races among your friends or to go international to play against anyone around the world on the WiFi connection! The story it self is great! Dr. Eggman is back and at it again with the evil plots. He is building a them park in space, now this sounds all fine and dandy tell Sonic discovers that he has abducted an alien race called Wisps and is using their color powers in his plans :( Poor little Wisps! And they are so cute too! Shortly after this Sonic discovers that he too can use these new Alien powers and does so to save them! Rated E for EVERYONE! There is some cartoon violence but it's the classic old school violence that all of you parents out there grew up with well watching cartoons! So don't be too harsh let them enjoy their game and you should join in on the fun too!

EPIC GAME RELEASES!!! Part II :P

First I have to apologize for taking so long to get this up! Remember that I am the only person writing this blog, sometimes life gets away with me.....and sometimes I get dragged back into WoW! :P Yea I know bad Zephy bad! *giggles* Well lets get this going Part two of this years EPIC GAME RELEASES! Woot! Come on you know you are excited for this!

Battle vs Chess

Alright, this is an odd one for me to have found. I have to say, that I had no idea this game was even in the making and well looking through a list of hot new games for this holiday season I ran across this and freaked out! I just had to do a project in my gaming class to design a game that I would love to see made. And well this doesn't follow my idea precisely, it's still pretty awesome and one that I am actually super excited for. Combining professional chess software, Fritz! a world renowned chess algorithm software, combat oriented game mechanics, animated game pieces and vivid 3D conflict animations, has brought the classic game of Chess into this day and age :P In this new version of the classic game you play out your match only to have a "death match" when confronted with another piece! Hence your game pieces will no longer be easily taken! Now even the lowly pawn has the chance to stand up to the King!

Fallout: New Vegas

I know this is the one that many of you have been waiting for, and I can totally dig that. I have personally been super cranked for this release! I have to say that this is going to be big for this holiday season, I know that I will spend a lot of my vacation playing through this story. A single player story line Fallout: New Vegas looks to be pretty promising and a true credit to the Fallout line. So sit back at your pad grab yourself a nice cold bottle of Nuka Cola and have yourself a a blast playing Fallout New Vegas!

Crafting Mama

Alright, so if you played that annoying, addictive, time eating game Cooking Mama, and hated yet loved in a sick way, then you are where I am right now. Do you buy this new game?? And risk wasting hour upon hour of time playing this, because you know you will sit there saying "this game is so stupid" only to spend yet another hour playing! This stylist based game of sewing, molding, painting, cutting, gluing, and oh so much more contains 40 different crafts with many different out comes for each one depending on how well you preform each step in the task. Yes Mama will even award you Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards for what you have done! I know I am going to end up getting it and being sickly addicted to yet another Mama game :P So join me in the maddness!

Rock Band 3

I will admit that I have never been a big fan of Rock Band. Yes I know "OhEmGee! What is she thinking?!" I enjoy it in a group setting but sitting there playing it by myself for hours just never really got me excited. With the most tracks to date this looks to be the most promising game in the series yet. I see hours of fun times and many nights of late play parties ahead for the many fans. :P

Star Wars The Force Unleashed II

We find ourselves again on the journey of Starkiller, Darth Vader's fugitive apprentice. I have to say that the best part is the dual welding Lightsabers, can you say shweet! You can even challenge your friends to a 4-player Force showdown on Wii! Anyone willing to face me??

Fable III

EPIC GAME RELEASES!!! Part I :P

Hey All!

With the recent release of Halo Reach and Dead Rising 2, I am reminded of all the amazing games to look forward to this Holiday season! I figured that I would take a little time out of the blog to go over a few of these games and see what y'all think! There is a whole list of games coming out that I am looking forward to, I have no idea where I am going to find the time or the money to enjoy them all :P but I will definitely try! Because there is so many games to look forward to I am going to spend the next few days going over a few a day and y'all can tell me what you think and what you would like to see me post as an EPIC GAME RELEASE! I debated how I should go over the games and how I should break them up in the up coming posts. I finally settled on just going by release date starting with what is coming up the quickest! Let's get this show on the road!

Intellivision Lives!

This is actually not really a "new release". Well it is a new game to the DS the game itself is not new in anyway. Well this is a rerelease of classic games from the Intellivision it is also a rerelease of the game itself the first one actually having been released in 1999 for the PC, 2004 for Playstation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. Released again in 2008 for the Xbox360 under Xbox Originals. The game includes over 60 titles from the classic system the Intellivision, and brings back childhood memories and a love for good games.

Super Scribblenauts

The amazing and much anticipated sequel of Scribblenauts, Super Scribblenauts is a side-scrolling puzzle game where you as Maxwell must traverse through the world and collect "starites" using only your worlds to summon objects to help you. Spelling is a must to play this game. This new and exciting version not only allows you to continue the story, but to use adjectives in your words also. Let me explain were as before you could only summon things such as a ball or a pig, you can now "up the ante" and summon a pink ball or a zombie pig. Personally I am going to enjoy all the amazing things I can bring to life in this game!

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1

Now I personally am not a die hard Sonic fan, I am excited for and doing this one mainly for my nephew who is turning into a little gamer, and has a deep love for Sonic. A 2.5D side-scrolling platform with a slight throw back to the original sonic game, this new one allows you to control Sonic as he goes through the mazes and levels of each world. Using mechanics such as the original spin dash and power-ups like speed shoes alongside the homing attacks seen in the newer 3D Sonic games. This will also be the first time since Sonic 3 & Knuckles where Sonic can transform into Super Sonic during regular levels after collectiong all the Chaos Emeralds. This promises to be well loved by new and old fans alike. This new game is downloadable with a different release date for each system. Sonic will be available first on the iOS on the 7th of Oct, followed by WiiWare on the 11th of Oct, Playstation Network the 12 of Oct and finally on Xbox Live Arcade on the 13th of Oct. Even promoting online leader boards where players can compare level completion times, and high scores!

The sequel to Ubisofts much loved game Just Dance is back with new songs and new life! Well I have never been much a fan of the first game I am excited to see some of my favorite songs on the new game!

Kirby's Epic Yarn

I have to admit that when I first heard of this game I could not help but laugh, I thought for sure that someone had finally lost their mind and was snatching at straws to try and keep themselves floating in today's economy. After seeing the trailer though, I have to say that I have fallen in love with this new version of Kirby! Animated yarn and a wonderful world of cloth textiles and zippers makes this adventure look to be a lot of fun, and allows for Kirby himself to be morphed into many different shapes and objects! I wont bore you with the details let me just show you why I have fallen in love with this game!

Medal of Honor

There has been much controversy in the news over this much awaited game, and well it looks bad we have to remember that the media takes things way out of context and need to do a little more research before they go off and print some of their stories. Then again they are just looking for what sells :P I am going to take directly from the Medal of Honor website so that y'all get a lovely idea of the game itself. Hopefully you are looking forward to this as much as I am!

Self Hatred Anyone??

Hey All

So something that I have noticed as of recently is a lot of hatred among my fellow gamers/geeks/nerds, now I am not talking about the friendly bad talk in game or the classic "Im gonna to cut you bitch!" or the "Im gonna own you bitch!" Those are all said in good gamer love! :P What I am talking about is the actual hatred among my fellow gamer girls, (and a few gamer guys) And this truly makes me sad! :(

If you follow me on twitter you saw my tweet about a week ago that simply states "Geeks and Gamers need to be proud of who we are! We are already frowned upon enough by "normal" society, we don't need it among ourselves! :D" Though if you ask me I would just simply say what is normal?? Cause to me I am perfectly normal, my obsessive gaming and constant need to own at all video games along with my drive to get all the achievements possible along with my sick need to make sure that everything is perfect :P That is normal to me. Where as to my sister, the massive amounts of make up she owns and changing her clothes four or five times a day and going out to the desert and spending the weekend off roading is completely normal! So the question there is what is really normal?? But I will go into that on a later post! For now we are working on the hatred!
Team Unicorn - named such because you know gamer girls are as elusive as uincorns! - Michele Boyd, Clare Grant, Milynn Sarley and Rileah Vanderbilt; recently released a video entitled "G33k and G4m3r Girls" as a parody of Katy Perry's, California Girls. (Yes I am fully aware of the ComicCon version of this song too done a while before this one, but because this is the well known one, mainly because of the girls themselves we will stick with this one for the blog). I have to say that I personally loved this video, as seen by the fact that I posted it on this very blog with heart felt love over the fact that they did something so amazing. The problem at hand though is the hate that they received from the geek and gamer community!

Now as a girl yes I understand where the hatred is coming from, but as a girl GAMER I don't understand they why of it! Yes these girls are all beautiful and lovely and yes I understand they don't represent our everyday girls, heck I will the first say that yes I know I am not one of the "hot" or "sexy" girls but I am proud of who I am! Both as a girl and as a gamer. Why should we hate on someone because they are beautiful and sexy, and are proud of it themselves?? What because they are this they should hide themselves in a closet and never show it off to the world?? Doesn't that go against everything that we are always saying as a society?? Don't we normally want to put the people that are like this on the pedestal and "worship" them?? Not I personally, I am more interested in what each person stands for and what they are doing with their fame rather then how pretty they are. And each one of these girls has done me very proud. They showed here that girl gamers are not in all reality Unicorns, and a figment of the worlds imagination yet again. So why the hate?? I know that I personally would never be able to do what they did in the video, only because I am not built like them :P but I sure as hell don't hate or fault them for being and doing so!

So explain to me girls (and guys), why are we hating on them for going out there and showing yet again that girls do game?? And not just the sterotypical nerdy girl/guy, you know what I am talking about the ones with the big thick glasses, buck teeth and no fashion sense at all and are still virgins that live in their mothers basement with no social life that is always used to portray us. I for one thank them! Lets show those boys who rule! :P You know I am just kidding guys. I will say this though PLEASE! from one gamer to another stop with the geek on geek hate! Like I said before, we get enough of it from outside the gaming community. Heck most of them consider us to be "sick" and in need of "help" because we are "gamers" O.o Yea I don't get it either but listen to what people are saying and you will see. Apparently we are suppose to "grow-up" and be "normal". We really don't need the self hatred! We have been trying to change this sterotype for years! And here we have girls going out and doing it, and all you can do is hate on them! How hypocritical is that?? If you are really not happy with how they do it then stop bitching and do something yourselves, show that they are not the majority!

Girls! We Have a New Anthem!

Alright so Zephy is not feeling well at all :( and on top of that I seem to have lost my book. Oh well I get to spend a little time working on a few things I guess. Trying to take it easy. Hmmm.....

Hey all!

Alright, so I just watched Abby Heppe's review on Metroid: Other M. I have to say first of all that I am not in full agreement with her on how horrid the game was. Yes there was a few things that I would have to agree with, they did sexitize her a little bit in this game. I just don't think it was as bad as they make it out to be in her review. And yes the mechanics need a lot of work, they didn't flow as nicely as they should have with the Wii Remote. They gave her a feminine side, is that so horrible?? Why can't she be a strong woman, and still be a woman. That's what she is after all. I am a gamer yes, but I pride myself on being a girl. That includes make up and everything else that makes me a girl. I do agree that she shouldn't have been so subservient to Adam, but you also have to remember she does follow him out of respect and love. And because he is her commander, anyone in the military will tell you that you HAVE to follow orders, you may not like the orders but you have to follow them. She is still the strong woman she was I mean come on the guys she teams up with are getting in trouble and who saves their asses?? Samus! And lastly, what is the problem with her voice being girly?? I am 23 years old, I still sound like a little girl most the time. When I answer the phone half the time people will actually ask me, "Is your mommy home?" -_- And having heard her voice myself, I have to say that she doesn't sound all that much like a little girl. I honestly think that I sound more like a little girl then her. Some girls just have voice like that, is it so wrong?? I should hope not. :P

I am not saying that Abby is wrong in her views on the contrary I agree with her right to be offended. I just don't see how it is so horrible for Samus to come a little more into her feminine side. I know that even we girl gamers like to get dressed up and feel pretty every now and then.

Wii Games - E3 2011 - Metroid: Other M

Edit: (7 Sept 2010) I was watching G4 today and saw the trailer for Metorid: Other M again, and it just reinforced what I am trying to say here. Samus' past is what makes her, her. It is not something she can run from. It is something that she has to embrace.
